National Polymer posts impressive revenue in Q3

National Polymer Industries has reported a 50% quarterly increase in revenue on the back of growing sales of PVC pipes and doors – two main products of the publicly listed company.

In the January-March quarter, the conglomerate posted a revenue of Tk132.31 crore, which was Tk85.32 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year.

It manufactures PVC pipes, PVC doors, and bottle grade PVC compounds and sells the products in both local and international markets.

An official in the company said the sales of PVC pipes and doors went up by 30% in the first three months of this year.

"The company has received more orders for PVC pipes and doors amid the coronavirus pandemic," he told The Business Standard wishing not to be named.

In the January-March quarter, the net profit was Tk5.60 crore, which was Tk3.69 crore in the same period of the previous year.

The earnings per share (EPS) was Tk1.37, which was 124.59% higher than that reported in the same period a year ago.

In the first nine months of the 2020-21 fiscal year, the revenue of the company stood at Tk334.61 crore, compared to Tk281.81 crore a year ago.

The net profit stood at Tk10.92 crore and the retained earnings at Tk42.31 crore.

The net asset value has increased by 34.46% to Tk48.23 as of 31 March 2021.

The company recommended a 15% cash dividend for its shareholders for the year ended on 30 June 2020.

The company was incorporated in 1987 and listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange in 1993.

The current paid-up capital of the company is Tk73 crore.

The last trading share price at the Dhaka Stock Exchange was Tk56.60 on Sunday.

As of 30 April this year, sponsors and directors jointly held 38.01%, institutional investors 18.13%, and general investors 43.86% shares of the company.
