BRAC Bank celebrates 19 years of unwavering trust

BRAC Bank observed its 19th founding anniversary on Saturday

BRAC Bank Limited completed 19 years of inclusive banking with the promise of unshakable trust.

BRAC Bank Limited, a member of the BRAC family observed its 19th founding anniversary on Saturday, says a press release.

Founded by Sir Fazle Hasan Abed KCMG in 2001, the bank commenced its operations on the 4th of July that year. Due to the Covid-19 situation, the bank refrained from any celebration for its 19th founding anniversary this year, a statement says.

Dr Ahsan H Mansur, Chairman of the bank said, "I respectfully remember Sir Fazle Hasan Abed today; I am still inspired by the vision& values that he shared with me from time to time and also while entrusting me with the role to lead this reputable bank. I would like to congratulate the entire BRAC family for their tireless efforts to progress the Bank's financial inclusion agenda and add value to all its stakeholders".

"I believe that our bank has already established itself as one of the leading banks in Bangladesh and is now attempting become a bank of international standards. In this journey, which is the vision shared by Sir Fazle, the SME sector will always remain as the focus of BRAC Bank," Dr Mansur added.

Sir Fazle Hasan Abed KCMG, who passed away last year, established BRAC Bank primarily to create greater financial access for the 'missing middle' – the small and medium entrepreneurs of Bangladesh who needed institutional financing to grow and prosper. He was its chairperson in two phases, from 2001-2008, and 2013-2019, before retiring on 26 August 2019 and passing on the baton to Dr Mansur.

 

Selim RF Hussain, the managing director and CEO of the bank, also thanked all the stakeholders of the bank in celebrating this occasion.

He said, "Encouraging entrepreneurship is key to sustaining Bangladesh's economic development, and in this regard, BRAC Bank has proven itself to be one of the most successful financial institutions of the country."

BRAC Bank workers have expressed their gratitude on different social media to its investors, customers, and shareholders for their unwavering trust in the bank.
