Bashundhara LPG to create job opportunity for underprivileged women

Country's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) brand, Bashundhara LPG, will provide sustainable employment to 10 "underprivileged but indomitable women" of the country in every three months, according to a press release.

A sister concern of Bashundhara Group, Bashundhara LPG would recruit women, who are facing stark socio-economic ordeals and yet striving to manage livelihood for their families through small endeavours.

The initiative has been launched to mark the International Women's Day 2020, officials said at a press meet held on Saturday at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital.

Noted writer and the Daily Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milan and singer Anima Roy were special guests at the press meet.

Among others, Bashundhara Group Head of Business Development ZM Ahmed Prince and ICCB Chief Executive Jashim Uddin were present on the occasion alongside Bashundhara LPG's Chief Financial Officer Mahbub Alam, General Manager

Zakaria Jalal and Deputy General Manager Sarwar Hossain.

Under the new project, jobseekers can apply through two ways – online registration and recommendation by local distributors of the LPG brand.

Addressing the meeting, Imdadul Haque Milan said International Women's Day is not an occasion to only show respect to womanhood but also a very significant day to uphold the contributions of women in the society throughout the year. 

"Bashundhara Group maintains its thematic focus of promoting well-being for the country and its people. Sustainable development goals can never be attained through development of male only. Bashundhara Group believes in collective development of male and female to lead the country to the next level of prosperity," he added.

Associate Professor at Jagannath University Anima Roy appreciated the project of Bashundhara LPG which, she said, will change the society and the country.

ZM Ahmed Prince of Bashundhara Group informed that the Bashundhara LPG has been contributing for welfare of women from the very beginning of its journey. Bashundhara LPG will spend from its sales volume to help the underprivileged women improve their lives, Prince added. 

Bashundhara LPG General Manager Zakaria Jalal said the company has planned to increase the employment opportunities for women in the coming days and in this way, to contribute for the society.

Bashundhara LPG Chief Financial Officer Mahbub Alam said the noble initiative will create a social impact in line with the company's focus area of doing something for the betterment of the country and its people.

ICCB Chief Executive Jasim Uddin said mass awareness is a must for changing mindset to ensure impact development for woman and Bashundhara Group always stands beside welfare projects in the society.

Bashundhara LP Gas is recognised as Best Brand in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) category by Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF).

Marking the International Women's Day, Bashundhara LPG, has taken the project titled 'Your single contribution, let increase livelihood of women' which will manage sustainable employment to 10 women in every three months through its supply chain.

Officials informed that Bashundhara LPG will expense for livelihood development of indomitable women showing respect to their struggle to spark as bread earner of families and to contribute in workforces.
