Call for building dynamic young leadership at Barvida annual general meeting

Speakers at the annual general meeting of Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (Barvida) have called for building strong youth leadership in the organisation and urged all to take effective steps to develop the reconditioned motor vehicle sector. 

The meeting led by Barvida President Abdul Haque took place recently at Dhaka Ladies' Club, read a press release. 

Addressing the meeting, Haque said Barvida's executive council was working to reduce the tariff disparity between new and old cars. 

He also called on younger members to come forward to build a more dynamic and tech-savvy leadership.

During the meeting, Mohammad Shahidul Islam, secretary general of Barvida, presented the 2020 annual report where he highlighted the organisation's activities in the past year. 

He also presented its income and expenditure accounts. 

The meeting also approved the annual budget for the next fiscal year and appointed an auditor.

During the open discussion session of the general meeting, members discussed various issues related to Bangladesh's reconditioned car import sector and Barvida's interests.

Some 400 members, including the secretary general, vice presidents, former presidents, and executive members of Barvida, were present during the meeting. 

For more than three decades, Barvida has been operating in Bangladesh as a national trade organisation in the import and marketing of reconditioned cars, and has also contributed about 85% to the country's transport sector by supplying vehicles.
