Digital Financial Service Nagad, operating under the authority of the Bangladesh Post Office, received 1.85 lakh subscribers on 17 February, reaching the total number of active subscribers over three crore.

An average of 1.5 lakh new customers have subscribed to Nagad in the last two weeks, except for public holidays.

The number of subscribers has been increasing exponentially as a result of the simplified account opening process and recently launched campaigns. Moreover, the Nagad App is at the top of the chart in Bangladesh in terms of downloading, reads a press release issued by the company.

Besides, the response of new customers has also increased since the introduction of account opening technology by dialling *167# on mobile and setting the PIN (Personal Identification Number).

Noting that Nagad is advancing through technological development, Tanvir A Mishuk, managing director of the company, said, "From the very beginning, we have wanted to make it very easy to deliver Nagad to people across the country."

In this case, on the one hand, we have reduced the cost, on the other hand, we have simplified the process of opening an account through technology. Our main goal is Nagad will provide the people of the country a platform for financial inclusion, through which they will have freedom of financial transactions, he added.

"We have already got the benefits of our efforts and hope to become the most popular mobile financial service operator in the country soon," Tanvir A Mishuk said.

According to the press release, considering the number of subscribers, the market share of Nagad is currently 30%, which is planned to increase to 50% within this year.
