Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) on Tuesday in a Twitter post condemned the harassment done to Prothom Alo Senior Journalist Rozina Islam.

"What is going on in #bangladesh? One of the country's most respected women journalists is detained for hours. Hey, Health Ministry: journalism is not a crime! The world is watching," their Twitter handle wrote sharing a post that mentioned Rozina's confinement.

Prothom Alo's Senior Reporter Rozina Islam today said that she has been being treated wrongfully for making reports on health ministry.

The senior journalist made the remark when police were taking her to jail after a Dhaka court rejected a remand plea of police.

Rozina Islam made several investigative reports recently revealing corruptions in the health sector.

Judge of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court today sent Rozina Islam to jail rejecting police's 5-day remand plea today in a case filed under Official Secrets Act. Hearing on her bail plea will be held on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Rozina Islam was taken to the court from police station around 8am.

Rozina Islam was detained for allegedly taking snapshots of an official document at the Secretariat without due permission.

Hours after detention, a case was filed against her under the Official Secrets Act.

Health Services Division's (HSD) Deputy Secretary Sibbir Ahmed Osmani filed the case with Shahbagh police station on Monday midnight.

Two more charges were brought against the senior journalist under 379 and 411 sections of the penal code.
