Rule issued over validity of 9th Wage Board gazette
On September 12, the government issued the 9th Wage Board gazette which said the new wage board would be effective from the notification date.
The High Court has issued a rule over the validity of the gazette notification for the 9th Wage Board Award for journalists and employees.
The lower division of the Supreme Court has asked the information secretary, labour secretary and the wage board chairman to reply to the rule within four weeks.
A High Court bench of Justice Mainul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal today heard a supplementary petition filed in connection to this and issued the rule.
Advocate Yusuf Ali moved the petition in the court and Deputy Attorney General Saifuddin Khaled stood for the state.
The Newspaper Owners Association of Bangladesh filed a writ to the High Court on August 5, challenging the legitimacy of the recommendation process of finalising new salary structures in the 9th Wage Board Award 2018.
