The High Court on Tuesday wanted to know when the two city corporations of Dhaka will import effective insecticides to eliminate mosquitoes from the capital.
The HC bench comprising Justice Tariq-ul-Hakim and Justice Md Shohrowardi passed the order during a hearing on a suo moto rule.
The bench also wanted to know why existing medicine has not been effective in controlling dengue menace and directed both city corporations to update the court on imports by August 1.
Barrister Taufiq Inam Tipu, a counsel for the Dhaka North City Corporation, was present at the hearing.
On July 25, the HC asked the chief health officers of the city corporations to import effective insecticides within July 30 to stop the spread of Aedes mosquitoes, which carries the virus of the deadly dengue fever.
