Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has expressed his determination not to deviate from the goal, no matter how many adversities come.
"Our goal is the goal set by our prime minister. To meet that goal, she has taken two steps forward in the Human Development Survey 2020 amid this Covid-19 epidemic," the mayor said at the fifth board meeting of the second council of the corporation held at the Mayor Hanif Auditorium of Nagar Bhaban on Tuesday.
"You have to highlight these positive developments for the people. These developments are a reflection of the strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We are moving forward under her strong leadership. So, we will not deviate from that goal in any way," he added.
"No matter how many adversities come, no matter how many problems come, inshallah we will resist from being united and we will build Dhaka as the developed capital of developed Bangladesh," he said further.
Addressing the officials, Taposh said, "You have to be dynamic in [achieving] the goal we are moving forward with. We still haven't been able to transmit that speed. And to do that, I hope you will be more enterprising."
Mayor Taposh asked the engineering department to fix the schedule and complete the work as no more time will be increased. The contractors will complete the work within the stipulated time frame and then get the bill.
He said he will ensure it so that the government can start new tasks on time.
The meeting unanimously decided to send a letter to the Local Government Department to upgrade the rank of DSCC councillors to that of joint secretary. Other issues were also discussed as per the agenda including increasing the councillors' facilities.
