Viqarunnisa School student dies of dengue

A student of Viqarunnisa School and College died of dengue on Wednesday.

She breathed her last at 7 am at the Millennium Heart and General Hospital in the capital. Front desk executive Mehedi Hasan at the hospital has confirmed this to The Business Standard.

The deceased was Ishra Taskin, 13, a student of class VIII.

Ishra was the eldest daughter of Amanat Maula, an executive engineer at the Ashuganj Power Station Company in Brahmanbaria.

A few days ago, she and her parents and younger sister were infected with dengue, and all of them were admitted to Labaid Hospital in Dhaka.

When Ishra’s condition deteriorated, she was moved to the Millennium Heart and General Hospital on August 26.

The total death toll from dengue has reached 57 in the country, according to the health directorate. Meanwhile, the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) is reviewing 192 death reports to verify if they were caused by dengue.
