Village head shot dead in Rangamati

A village head was gunned down by unidentified miscreants in Jurachhari upazila of Rangamati on Sunday night.

The deceased was Pathur Moni Chakma, 60, the village head of No 1 Lulangchhari area of the upazila.

Jurachhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shafiul Azam said that a group of unidentified gunmen shot dead Pathur at his house in Lulangchhari area around 9:15 pm, leaving him dead on the spot.

Citing locals, he said, "Armed miscreants surrounded the house and shot him while he was chatting with family members at his home at night. They made sure he was dead. Multiple bullet wounds were found on his body."

The OC said that police visited the spot after receiving the news.
