The accident that stopped the movement of vessels occurred around 8:45 am on Friday

The vessel movement at the outer anchorage of the Chittagong port resumed on Friday noon after three hours of suspension following a head-on collision between two vessels at the estuary of the Bay of Bengal and the Karnafuli River in the morning.

The accident occurred around 8:45 am on Friday although no causality was reported.

Secretary of Chattogram port Omar Faruk said the collision occurred when an oil tanker was heading towards the outer anchorage from the jetty of the port while another container-laden vessel was entering the jetty.

The vessel movement resumed at 12 pm after a tug boat removed the two vessels, he said.

A three-member probe body was formed to investigate the matter and was asked to submit a report within three days.
