US Embassy to host higher education fair in Dhaka

The United States Embassy in Dhaka is to host the “South Asia Fall Tour 2019 University Fair” aiming to facilitate international student access to US higher education institutions. The fair is scheduled to be held at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka on September 7.

The EducationUSA Student Advising Center -- a US Department of State network of over 425 international student advising centres in 178 countries -- will host the fair.

According to a press release, representatives from 26 US universities will attend the fair, including from Drew University, George Mason University, Hofstra University, NYU Tandon School of Engineering, University of Houston-Victoria, and University of South Florida.

During the fair, where entry is free and open to all from across Bangladesh, students will have the chance to discuss higher education opportunities in the US, areas of studies, programs, and financial aid opportunities – all in one place.

The fair will also include an information session about the US student visa process, a discussion on higher education studies in the United States, and a bilingual panel event with Bangladeshi alumni of US universities sharing their US experiences.

The fair will present a unique opportunity for students to interact face-to-face with representatives from 14 US universities as well as with a consortium representing 12 other universities. The universities are accredited institutions recognized by EducationUSA.

EducationUSA promotes US higher education to students around the world by offering accurate, comprehensive, and current information about opportunities to study at accredited institutions in the United States.  It also provides services to the US higher education community to help institutional leaders meet their recruitment and campus internationalisation goals.

EducationUSA advising services and reference material are available across Bangladesh at the American Center at the US Embassy in Dhaka, the Edward M. Kennedy Center for Public Service and the Arts in Dhanmondi, and the American Corner in Chittagong.  EducationUSA reference libraries and remote advising services are also accessible at the American Corners in Khulna, Sylhet, and Rajshahi. All of EducationUSA’s services are free of charge.
