Two youths found dead in Sylhet border
Two Bangladeshi youths were found dead at no man's land of Dona border area of East Laxmiprasad area of Kanaighat in Sylhet on Wednesday.
Their bodies were discovered by the locals in the morning beside main pillar 1331 located in Mikirpara.
The deceased are Askar Ali, 25, and Arif Hossain, 22, of Eraligul village adjacent to Bangladesh-India border.
According to their relatives, the duo had set out for the nearby Lalbazar area on Tuesday afternoon but never returned.
Locals suspect they were shot dead by India's Border Security Force (BSF) or armed Khashias upon entering the Ukhiang area of Meghalaya state in India illegally on Tuesday night.
Nazrul Islam, company commander of the Suraighat BGB camp, said he had informed senior BGB officials about the incident.
However, he could not confirm whether the youths were killed in the BSF firing.
Kanaighat police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Tajul Islam said he informed BGB officials upon receiving the news of the killings and the process to retrieve the bodies is underway.
