Bangladesh Coast Guard in a drive arrested two drug smugglers with 18 thousand pieces of contraband yaba tablets from an area adjacent to Chhera Dip in St Martin's Island on Sunday.

Coast Guard members detained them while they were selling yaba in the area and tried to flee from the scene sensing the presence of the members. Later, 18 thousand pieces of yaba were seized from the shopping bags of the detainees.

The arrested duo Md Selis, 38 and Md Jabed, 29 are residents of Oliabad and Khongarpara of Teknaf.

The arrested yaba dealers and the seized yaba tablets have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further action.
