The arrestees said the rice was allocated in their names for distributing among beneficiaries

Police on Tuesday afternoon seized 38 sacks of rice and detained two rice traders in Daulatkhan upazila of Bhola.

The two are grocery shop owner Juel and his brother Kochi.

The rice was seized from Juel's shop. Juel's house is adjacent to Dalil Khar Haat of the upazila.

Daulatkhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Bazlur Rahman said, "Acting on a tip-off, we raided Juel's house and his shop. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jitendra Kumar Nath led the raid."

During the raid, 33 sacks of rice were seized from the house and another five sacks from the grocery shop.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jitendra Kumar Nath said, "Strict action will be taken against those who were involved in the incident."

Family members of the arrestees said the rice was brought for sale from local dealer Anwar Hossain Molin.

However, Juel and his brother denied this, saying the rice was allocated in their names for distributing among beneficiaries.
