Two petrol pumps fined Tk1 lakh for short-selling in capital

Following the Standards of Weights and Measures Act 2018, the petrol pumps were fined Tk50,000 each  

The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has fined two petrol pumps Tk1 lakh for weighing and measuring fraud in Mohakhali, Dhaka on Monday.

BSTI Executive Magistrate Muhammad Amimul Ehsan led the drive and imposed the fine.

Sources from BSTI said Messrs Toshofa Enterprise in Mohakhali area was fined for providing 90ml and 70ml less oil in every 10 litres through two diesel and octane dispensing units at the station.   

Further, there was no calibration chart at the Messers Royal Filling Station, of the same area, at its underground storage tank.

So, according to the Standards of Weights and Measures Act 2018, the petrol pumps were fined Tk50,000 each.

They were also asked to stop the sale of oil using the faulty dispensing units.
