Two killed in Manikganj lightning strike

Two people including a college student were killed by lightning strikes in Ghior and Daulatpur upazilas of Manikganj on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Shaheen, 18, a student of Mahadevpur Union Government Degree College of Boilot village in Ghior upazila and Golam Mustafa, 40, of Charbhanga village in Daulatpur upazila in Manikganj.
The Officer-in-charge of Ghior Police Station, Riaz Ahmed Biplob, said that Shahin was working in a paddy field with his mother while a thunderbolt struck him, killing him on the spot.

Meanwhile, Golam Mustafa, driver of a buffalo driven vehicle of Charbhanga village, was killed by lightning strike while he was returning home after collecting peanuts from an adjacent area.
