Two people were killed and three more injured in a head-on collision between a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw and a pickup van, possibly due to low visibility caused by dense fog, in Baurbhag area of Moulvibazar Sadar upazila early Tuesday.

The deceased are Mujahid, 45, and Al-Amin, 35.

"The Sherpur-bound pickup van collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction," according to police sources.

"We are suspecting that the accident happened due to reduced visibility caused by heavy fog," said Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Moulvibazar Model Police Station.

"One person died on the spot and the other victim died on the way to the hospital," he added.

The injured people were taken to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
