Police arrested two men Friday for allegedly raping a minor orphan girl and attempting to murder her at a hotel in Saint Martin's island.

The arrestees are Md Imran and Robi Alam alias Hasu.

Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf police station Rokibul Islam confirmed the matter.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Azmir Ilahi said: "Some locals rescued the girl from a water drum hearing her screaming and brought her to the police station."

"The victim alleged that Imran and Hasu raped her after calling her inside the hotel playing a trick. After raping her, they tied her mouth with a piece of cloth and tried to kill her putting her inside a drum."

"Later police arrested the rapists from Fantasy Hotel," the ASI added.

"The girl was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for test. A case filing is under process at the police station," the OC said further.
