The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday detained two people from Mohakhali area in Dhaka for reportedly spreading propaganda about Dengue.

The detainees are Md Motiur Rahman Tipu, 40, and Engineer MI Tonoy, 30.

According to RAB sources, they were spreading propaganda about Dengue through press releases and posts on social media groups, where they termed the disease an epidemic.

“They were trying to tarnish the government’s image by spreading propaganda, as the authorities concerned have not yet declared dengue fever an epidemic,” said Lt Col Sarwar Bin Kashem, commanding officer of Rab 1.

The detained men were spreading propaganda about Dengue under the banner of ‘Sajeeb Wazed Joy Parishad,’ which is an unauthorized organization, said RAB sources.
