Two fish farmers were killed by a group of miscreants at Darbeshpur village in Meherpur on Wednesday night.

The deceased are Rokonuzzaman, 36, son of late Idris Ali Master, and his cousin Hasan Ali, 42, son of Azad Ali Biswas, of the village.

Police recovered the bodies from the spot beside Soilomari Beel (a waterbody) and sent those to Meherpur Hospital for autopsy, said Police Super of the district SM Murad Ali.

Previous enmity might be the reason behind the murders, the police suspect.

Rokon and Hassan had been farming fish in the Beel adjacent to their houses for several years on lease, according to locals.

On the night, they went to the Beel for supervision like any other day and were attacked by around 10 to 12 people armed with local sharp weapons.

They were stabbed to death on the spot.

No case was filed till filing of the report on Thursday morning.
