Two children killed, 10 injured as van overturns in Barishal

Two children were killed, ten injured and several others missing as a van carrying madrasa students lost its control and fell into a pond in Uzirpur upazila of Barishal on Tuesday morning.

Two children were killed, ten injured and several others missing as a van carrying madrasa students lost its control and fell into a pond in Uzirpur upazila of Barishal on Tuesday morning.

The van was carrying 18 students, said Shishir Kumar Pal, officer-in-charge of Uzirpur police station.

Local firefighters have been trying to find the missing students.

The victims were identified as Lamia, 7, daughter of Joynal Abedin of Mulpain area and Abdullah, 7, son of Selim Hawlader of Sakral area.

Both of them were the student of Mulpain Darus Sunnat Madrasa.

Their death was confirmed by Dr Maksudur Rahman of Uzirpur upazila health complex.

Injured students were admitted to the health complex, locals reported.
