Two passenger buses caught fire in two separate areas of the capital on Saturday afternoon.
"A passenger bus of Trust Paribahan suddenly caught fire at around 3.15 pm in Karwan Bazar area. Three fire engines rushed to the scene. Another fire engine which was on patrol in front of Hotel Sundarban doused the flame quickly," Fire Service duty officer Lima Khanam told BSS.
Tejgaon Police Station's Officer in-Charge Shamim Ur-Rashid said a problem in the engine of the bus caused the fire and no passenger was hurt in the incident. Some seats got destroyed in the fire.
The fire service sources further said a double-decker bus of BRTC caught fire in front of Kurmitola General Hospital at around 3.45pm.
Two fire engines from Kurmitola Fire Station rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control.
