Two Bangladeshi expatriates returned to the country due to mental illness.

The returnees are Ambia Khatun,34, from Jordan and Eianur Rahman,35, from Dubai.

The families of the victims have been contacted and the relatives of both have left for Dhaka.

Ambia was sent to Jordan in July 2019 by the recruiting agency MH Trade International (RL-116). She returned to the country at around 11.30 pm on Sunday.

After seeing her uncontrolled movement inside the airport, armed police members informed the expatriate welfare desk and she was later taken to BRAC Learning Center.

Another expatriate, Eianur, landed at around 7:30 am Monday and was taken to BRAC Learning Center as well. Yanur traveled to Dubai via India without a visa in his passport.

Ambia hails from Veikpara village in Muladuli union of Ishwardi, Pabna while Yanur is from Sonadia village of Sarsha upazila of Jessore district. Their families have been contacted by the expatriate welfare desk.

Head of BRAC Migration Programme Shariful Hasan said 11 Bangladeshi workers have returned mentally challenged in the last month alone of which 10 are female domestic workers.

With the help of the expatriate welfare desk and the airport police, BRAC has so far reached out to the families of 63 mentally impaired workers who have returned home in the last two years.
