If such inhuman activities are not stopped, a brutal movement will be carried out

The Bangladesh Trade Union Center (TUC) has staged a sit-in in Chattogram to protest against wage cuts and layoffs, and has announced a stern program if the owner side continues this program.

TUC Chattogram District organised a human chain and rally in front of Chittagong Press Club where the announcement was made on Monday.

Speakers at the rally said that a class of greedy and rogue owners were trying to hold low-income workers hostage by capitalising on the plight of the coronavirus pandemic.

The government encouraged the business community not to lay off workers or reduce wages. But they have started abusing the workers by embezzling the incentives given by the government, they added.

They further said that the owners have already threatened to lay off workers in the garments and in many other factories where the workers were being paid lower wages while working the same hours.

If such inhuman activities are not stopped, a brutal movement will be carried out, they said.

Comrade Md Shah Alam, General Secretary, Communist Party of Bangladesh spoke at the rally along with, TUC Chattogram District General Secretary Mosiuddaula, Joint Secretary Dilip Nath and many others.
