"We remain committed to continuing to support Bangladesh in its fight against terrorism," said the embassy

The United States embassy in Dhaka appreciated the Holy Artisan verdict, saying the trial represents a landmark case for Bangladesh, said a press release on Wednesday.

The embassy said the ruling, that sentenced seven people to death, gives some closure to the families of the victims who were brutally murdered in July 2016.

The US noted the conclusion of the trial of the attack that left 22 people, including 17 foreigners, dead, said the press release.

The United States is honored to have assisted the Government of Bangladesh throughout the investigation of the attack.  We remain committed to continuing to support Bangladesh in its fight against terrorism, especially in our shared efforts to improve rule of law, said the embassy. It added that on this solemn occasion, the United States renews its deepest condolences to the families of the slain civilians, and the Bangladeshi law enforcement officials who were killed or injured while responding to this contemptible terrorist attack.
