For MRT and Rapid Pass holders, the last train will depart from Motijheel station at 8:40pm.

Metro rail service is going to be operational on the whole Uttara-Motijheel route until 8pm from Saturday.

The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Managing Director MAN Siddique disclosed this at a press briefing on Thursday.

Earlier, the train service was available for the city dwellers from 8am to 8:30pm in Uttara-Agargaon segment only, but in the Uttara-Motijheel portion the service was available until 11:30am.

Siddique said the service will be available for single-journey ticket holders from 7:30am to 8pm, while the service will be offered for those having MRT pass or Rapid pass up to 8:40pm from Motijheel station.

He stated that during peak hours, from 7:10am to 11:30am, metro trains will depart from Uttara station for Motijheel every 10 minutes.

In the off-peak hours, from 11:31am to 4pm, trains will leave the same station every 12 minutes.

Additionally, during the peak hours from 4:01pm to 8pm, a metro train will depart from Uttara station every 10 minutes.

The metro train from Motijheel station will commence operation at 7:30am and continue until 8:00pm with the specified headway.

For MRT and Rapid Pass holders, two metro trains will depart from Uttara station with a 10-minute gap, at 7:10am and 7:20am. Both trains will stop at every station.

In case of Motijheel station, four trains will depart from Motijheel station at 8:10pm, 8:20pm, 8:30pm, and 8:40pm for MRT and Rapid Pass holders.

Passengers holding Single Journey Tickets purchased before 7:45pm on the day of travel are eligible for travel. All ticketing offices and ticketing machines will close after 7:45pm.

To obtain an MRT Pass, passengers can collect the registration form from www.dmtcl.gov.bd or any metro rail station, fill it out, and submit it accordingly.

Metro rail on Uttara to Agargaon section under the MRT Line-6 project approved in 2012 was launched in December 2022. A limited service on the Agargaon Motijheel section of the same line was launched in November last year.

Initially three stations were opened in this section and services were provided from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM. After making all the stations operational in stages, the service period is also being extended.

MAN Siddique told the press conference that the DMTCL committed earlier to offer metro rail service on the Agargaon-Motijheel section similar to the Uttara-Agargaon section by March.

But, analyzing the public demand following a 15 days survey, the authority decided to offer the service earlier than the previous commitment.
