Quader said the overall project progress has reached 86 percent. A total of 2627 roadway slabs out of total 2917 have been set up while 2847 railway slabs out of total 2959 have been placed on the main bridge

Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the progress of the main bridge construction works of the much-anticipated Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project has reached 93.50 percent.

"The progress of construction works of the main bridge is 93.50 percent. River training works progress is 83.50 percent," he said, joining a review meeting on progress of ongoing development projects with the Bridges Division officials at Setu Bhaban at Banani here.

Quader said the overall project progress has reached 86 percent. A total of 2627 roadway slabs out of total 2917 have been set up while 2847 railway slabs out of total 2959 have been placed on the main bridge.

About the work progress of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel under the Karnaphuli river, the minister said the ring of 2450-meter long first tunnel tube has been installed while 815-meter road slab casting works have been completed.

Boring works of 1610 meter out of total 2450-meter long second tunnel have been completed while the overall project progress stood at 69 percent, he said.

Bridges Division Secretary Md. Abu Bakr Siddique chaired the meeting while different project directors were present on the occasion.
