Japan expects metro rail’s operation by this year

Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki said the country expects the operation of Dhaka MRT line 6 by this year.

He said, "I am delighted to share with you that Dhaka MRT line 6 is expected to start its operation within this year."

He came up with the revelation while virtually greeting people of Bangladesh on the occasion of New Year.

Ito Naoki said the year 2020 was such an unusual year, Covid-19 pandemic hit the world and changed our everyday lives completely that no one could have imagined a year ago.

"Even during the pandemic, bilateral relations between Japan and Bangladesh grew stronger."

"The year 2020 was a remarkable year since the two countries signed the largest ever old-year long package worth of over $3.2 billion in August.

"Moreover in 2022, we will celebrate the 50th year of diplomatic relations between Japan and Bangladesh. I would be delighted to take this milestone to further foster our bilateral relationship and friendship.

"The Japanese Embassy will continue to do our utmost to make our two countries even closer to each other," he added.
