Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said the government is considering the resumption of public transports ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
He added the government might lift the suspension on public transports keeping public interest in view after the lockdown, reports Somoy News.
While talking to the media, the Awami League General Secretary called on the transport owners and workers to be patient instead of protesting.
Earlier on Friday, Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation had called for nationwide protests on Sunday demanding the resumption of public transport services.
Public transport was suspended on 5 April as part of the countrywide lockdown measures in the face of an alarming surge of coronavirus infections in the country.
