Ban on govt vehicle purchase extended till next June

The government has extended the ban on purchase of vehicles for all its officials until 30 June next year as part of its austerity measures to fight the second wave of coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Any new purchase or replacement of vehicles under the operation and development fund at any government, semi-government, autonomous and other institution will remain suspended during this time, read a circular issued by the expenditure management-6 section of the Finance Division on Monday. 

The directive will be effective immediately, it added.  

Earlier on 9 July this year, the government initially imposed the ban till 31 December.
