‘Almost 50 percent of Metrorail project is complete’
Obaidul Qauder says that an initiative to make a masterplan for the Chattogram Metropolitan city transportation system and a metrorail route in the port city has been undertaken.
"Almost 50 percent work of the Metrorail project has been completed and three kilometres of railway has been laid. Work to establish electricity connection in ongoing."
Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader said this while inaugurating two 24 bed isolation centers under the Metrorail route-6 project in Gabtoli and in Uttara through video conference on Wednesday.
The minister said, "The Metrorail authority has done an admirable job on preventing coronvirus infection spreading to Metrorail construction project workers."
"The construction of two isolation centers will boost the morale of all the people working on the Metrorail project as well as give a new impetus to the project," Obaidul Quader said.
The minister put emphasis on completing the project work from Agargaon to Motijheel in the video conference.
Obaidul Qauder also said that an initiative to make a masterplan for the Chattogram Metropolitan city transportation system and a Metrorail route in the port city has been undertaken.
Among others, secretary of Road transport and Highways Md Najrul Islam, Managing Director of the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd and former secretary MAN Siddik, Executive Director of DTCA Khandakar Rakibur Rahman, Project Director of Metrorail route-6 Aftab Uddin Talukder participated in the meeting.
