Torture on Noakhali woman: Key accused Delwar's 2 accomplices arrested

Police have arrested two more cohorts of the main culprit Delwar, over the assault on a woman in Noakhali's Begumganj and subsequent release of the video on social media.

The arrestees are - Sohag and Nur Hossain Russell.

Noakhali district detective police arrested them on Tuesday night, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Alamgir Hossain.

So far, eight people have been arrested over this incident. Five of them were placed before the court and remanded on different terms. Earlier on Sunday, the plaintiff filed two separate cases under the Women and Child Repression Act and the Pornography Control Act against nine people, with Badal as the main accused.

On Sunday noon, 32 days after the incident, a video of the housewife being tortured was published on social media Facebook and it went viral.

Since the incident, the accused Delwar, Badal, Kalam and their associates have been confining the family of the abused housewife for a few days. At one stage, her entire family was forced to leave their home, the whole incident remained hidden from the locals and the police administration for a long time. When the incident came to light, the police and RAB conducted several raids and arrested eight people, including the main accused.
