The fire originated from a cotton warehouse in Tongi Mill Gate area and later spread to nearby factories

Tongi cotton warehouses damaged by fire

A fire that broke out around 12pm caused damage to some cotton warehouses in Tongi on Saturday.

"The fire originated from a cotton warehouse in Tongi Mill Gate area and later spread to nearby factories," Senior Station Officer Md Atiqur Rahman of Tongi Fire Service and Civil Defence told The Business Standard.

"Ten units of firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze around 4pm." 

Senior Station Fireman of Tongi Fire Service Jahangir Alam said two firefighters were injured while trying to douse the flames.
