Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) has so far disbursed Tk131.14 crore under the supervision of the district SME loan distribution monitoring committees from the stimulus package for the cottage, micro, small and medium (CMSME) industries announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The BSCIC disclosed the information in a press release on Wednesday.

According to the Credit Administration Division of BSCIC, the money has been distributed to 702 entrepreneurs of the cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises, who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Of them, 48 are women and 654 are male entrepreneurs.

The press release said under the secretarial responsibility of BSCIC, the district SME loan distribution monitoring committees are preparing the list of affected entrepreneurs, sending the list to various banks and supervising the overall loan disbursement activities.

The committees were formed in each district on June 1 as per the order of the Ministry of Industries with the approval of the Cabinet Division.

The committees have been formed to ensure that the affected entrepreneurs of cottage, micro, small and medium (CMSME) in the districts can take loans under the stimulus package from the banks without any hassle.
