Three remanded over Badda lynching

“The leader of the mob attack, Hridoy, is still on the run”

Three persons were placed on a four-day remand on Monday in a case filed over mob beating which left Taslima Begum Renu, a mother of two kids, dead in Badda of the capital.  

Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondal ordered the remand after police produced the accused – Bachchu, Bappi and Shahin -- before the court and sought a 10-day remand for each.

The another one among the four arrested in connection with the case gave his statement in a court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain.

On Sunday night, police detained three people named Bappi, Shaheen and Zafar while another person named Bachchu was detained on Monday.

Badda police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam said “The leader of the mob attack, Hridoy, is still on the run.”

Hridoy works at his father Hanif Ali’s grocery shop in Uttar Badda. He has never gone to school and is known as an impudent man in the area.
