Three more die from dengue Tuesday
In Rangpur, a three-year-old girl died of dengue on Tuesday
Three people including a kid died from dengue fever in Dhaka, Rangpur and Dinajpur on Tuesday.
In Dhaka, an elderly woman died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early Tuesday.
She was identified as Monwara Begum, 75, hailing from Hajiganj in Chandpur. She was staying at Mirpur-2 in Dhaka.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Assistant Director of DMCH Dr. Nasir Uddin said her body has been handed over to her family.
In Rangpur, a three-year-old girl died of dengue at Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Tuesday morning.
The girl, Riana, was a daughter of Ashraful Islam of Palashbari upazila in Gaibandha district.
Riana was diagnosed with dengue on August 2 at a hospital in Dhaka, said Dr Saiduzzaman, a spokesperson of the specialist doctors’ team at RMC.
Her family moved to Rangpur the next day and admitted her to RMC on that day. Riana was undergoing treatment at hospital for the last four days. She breathed her last at around 7am Tuesday, said Dr Saiduzzaman, adding that Riana was also suffering from Pneumonia.
In Dinajpur, a youth named Rabiul Islam, 17, died of dengue at Dinazpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital .
Rabiul was a resident of Chinirbandar upazila of the district. He breathed his last at 6am on Tuesday.
Dr Khairul Kabir, director of the hospital has confirmed Rabiul's death to The Business Standard.
Information from the health directorate reveals that 18 people died of dengue since January 1 till last Monday.
Unofficial sources and media reports, however, said the death toll had already exceeded 70.
