Three children died of dengue on Tuesday

Three school going children died of dengue in the last 24 hours, the deceased being Tarin (11) from Ghoshaighat upazila in Shariatpur; Sania (9) from Mohammadpur, Dhaka; and Juthi mala (11) from Kustia, Veramara.

Tarin, a fifth-grader, was admitted with fever in the Ghoshaighat Upazila Health Complex in August. The doctor at the health complex advised to transfer her to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, as she had been diagnosed with dengue on September 12. Tarin was latter shifted to the Intensive Care Unit where she died on Tuesday, Tarin's aunt Shahida Begum told the Business Standard.

Sania died of dengue in the early hours on Tuesday, as she was undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Shishu Hospital.

Dengue-infected Sania was admitted in the hospital on Saturday. She died of expanded dengue syndrome, said Kinkar Ghosh, epedimiologist at Dhaka Shishu Hospital. The death toll in the hospital stands at 17.

Juthi mala died, while she was being taken to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Earlier, on September 12, Juthi was in fever, and admitted to the Kushtia General Hospital on the following day, as she had been diagnosed with dengue. She was, subsequently, taken back to home from the hospital without treatment.

Afterwards, her family member took her to Bheramara Upazila Health Complex, as her condition worsened; but doctors advised her family to take her to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital: she died on the way.
