Three arms dealers held in capital

Police have arrested three suspected arms dealers in the capital’s Shyampur area.

They were identified as Md Razu Gazi, 43, Minhazul Islam, 28, and Showkot Hossain, 38.

The trio were in possession of firearms when they were held on Friday.

In a press conference at Dhaka Metropolitan Police media centre, Wari division Deputy Commissioner Ibrahim Khan said police had recovered four foreign pistols, two foreign revolvers, seven magazines and 128 rounds of bullet from a black bag from the scene.

“On information, police conducted a drive in Shyampur while the three were supposed to supply those arms to other miscreants, and arrested them from the spot,” he said.

“Three police officials were also injured during the operation,” he added.
