‘Thief’ lynched in Jashore
Villagers beat the duo before handing them over to the police
A suspected cow thief was beaten to death and another injured by a mob in Jashore's Jhikargachha upazila on Thursday morning.
The deceased is Ilias Hossain, 35.
"Few thieves entered the cowshed around 2am and tried to steal three cows of Insan Ali," Md said Touhidul Islam, additional superintendent of Jashore police.
"Villagers came when some students of the village saw the thieves and shouted. They beat the duo before handing them over to the police," he added.
Ilias was declared dead after being taken to Jashore General Hospital and injured Abdul said to be out of danger.
A case was filed against Abdul with Jhikorgachha police station over stealing cattle.
