Robi launches r-venture 2.0 for digital entrepreneurs

Robi on Sunday launched its flagship digital entrepreneurship platform titled ‘r-venture 2.0’ for every aspiring digital entrepreneur.

Any individual or a group of individuals can submit their business ideas and secure up to Tk84 lakh in investment for each winning idea through this programme, according to a Robi press release.

“Today is a historical moment for us. r-venture 2.0 is open for every individual of our country,” said Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, managing director and chief executive officer of Robi,” at the launching programme at hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon.

“We want to have fresh ideas through this competition which can bring positive changes in the society,” he added.

Robi’s Chief Digital Service Officer Shihab Ahmed said, “The ideas we selected through ‘r-venture 1’ has succeeded. We hope we will find various great ideas through ‘r-venture 2.0’ as well and the country will get new billion-dollar revenue earning companies which will contribute to our economic growth.”

Tina Jabeen, deputy project director of ICT Innovation, was also present there.

The business ideas have to be submitted between July 8-21.

Following the idea submission, around 150 shortlisted contributors will be asked to pitch for their ideas in front of Robi high officials.

At the end of this phase, 50 ideas will be shortlisted and a lean start-up training will be arranged for them. Later, they will make a pitch for their ideas before a panel of expert judges at a televised programme.

After further scrutiny, around 15 to 20 contributors will appear at the televised gala round to be aired live sometime in December. At the end of this round, the winner of the competition will be announced.

Earlier, Robi arranged its first r-venture programme to promote the initiatives of their employees.
