The country's telecom giant Grameenphone emphasised on the safety of its employees and customers during the coronavirus outbreak.

Yasir Azman, chief executive officer of the company came up with this statement while conducting its first ever virtual townhall meeting with its over 1600 employees, said a press release on Wednesday.

"Our role is more than a telecom service provider now, and our customers want us with them during the ongoing challenging time," he said reiterating his commitment to serve customers by ensuring safety first for the employees, customers and all other partners.

"We have joined frontline agencies those are playing a critical role in fighting the Covid-19. Besides, the collaboration with a2i, WHO, DGHS, and other government bodies has cemented our confidence in this regard," he said.

"We have a critical role to play to keep the telecom ecosystem moving, starting from customers to critical infrastructure in the communication front. When we take care of ourselves, we remain fit to keep our network healthy," he told his employees.

Azman said, "We are equally vulnerable in personal, professional, social, and digital life. Online predators are now more active than ever before. Don't forget to protect our customers from them and the future generation who live and breathe in online space."
