Teenager killed, another critically injured in motorcycle accident in Ctg

A teenage motorcycle rider was killed while another sustained critical injury in a road accident at Hathajari Shikarpur union in Chattogram this afternoon. 

The deceased was identified as Israt Hossain Alvi, 17, son of Iqbal Hossain hailing from Bayezid area in the city. 

Injured Ashraful Alam, 14, son of Mohammad Shahjahan of the same area, is undergoing treatment at the Incentive Care Unit of Evercare Hospital.

The deceased was a first-year HSC student, and the injured is a student in the eighth grade at the Forest Research Institute School in the city.

The accident took place around 3:30pm on Friday (10 November 10) on Quaish-Oxygen road.

Police said the accident occurred due to reckless driving.

Mohiuddin Sumon, in-charge of Madunaghat Police Investigation Centre, told The Business Standard that the accident occurred when a speeding motorcycle, upon hitting a speed breaker at the Bella Baper Ghat point of the Kuwaish-Oxygen Road, fell into a roadside ditch.

"Locals rescued two teenage riders of the motorcycle in critical condition and rushed them to a nearby private hospital where Alvi was declared dead by the doctor on duty," he added.

The injured is now fighting for life in the Incentive Care Unit of Evercare Hospital, he said.
