Symposium held on Green Chemistry and Textile Growth

The experts talked about key rudiments of textile chemical management, safety, development and its importance on national and international regulations

CEMS Global and Environmental Sustainability in Textile Industries, a program by the Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET (ESTex-BUET) organized a consultation titled “Symposium on Green Chemistry and Sustainable Chemical Management for Bangladesh Textile Growth” on September 5 at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).

The experts talked about key rudiments of textile chemical management, safety, development and its importance on national and international regulations. Also, environmentally sustainable chemicals, future adoption of greener production options and security policy for the sustainable growth of textile sector in upcoming years were discussed.

Top management of textile industry and national chemical safety and security experts including, CEO of Fakir Fashion Ltd, Mr. Abdullah Al Maher, Md. Shahan Reza, country relations manager, Bangladesh & Pakistan, Bluesign Technologies, and professors from department of chemical engineering, BUET were at the event as resource personnel.

Dr. Abbas Uddin Shiyak, assistant professor, department of dyes and chemical engineering, BUTEX, Mr. Faisal Rabbi, Senior Advisor, GiZ, and Mr. Md. Afzal Hossian, vice president, of Leather Engineers & Technologists’ Society, also joined the discussion.

The symposium was moderated by Dr. Mohidus Samad Khan, project manager, ESTex-BUET, and associate professor, department of chemical engineering, BUET.
