Students protest over death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed

Leaders and activists of progressive student alliances have blocked Shahbagh intersection of the capital for around one and half hour over the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed under police custody.

They started a procession from the TSC area of Dhaka University around 11 am, marched through Sahbagh and Paribagh and later blocked the intersection from 11.30 am to 1 pm.

As a result a huge traffic congestion and long queue of vehicles created Shahbagh, Farmgate routes.

The organisations include Bangladesh Chhatra Union, Samajtrantik Chhatra Front, Biplobi Chhatra Moitri and Bangladesh Chhatra Federation.

While addressing the program , Chhatra Union Dhaka University Unit Acting President  Mahir Shahrir Reza  said,  this government is acting like a fascist, they don't have any concern for the mass people's lives.

People never accept such kind of murder under police custody, they must go for tougher movement for the Justice of this killing, he added.

Earlier on Thursday night the alliance also brought out a protest procession that was started around 12am from Dhaka University's TSC and went through Shahbag, Bangla Motor and ended at DU's Raju Memorial Sculpture.
