Spurious liquor consumption: Death toll soars to 16 in Bogura

Another three people who fell sick after consuming spurious liquor have reportedly died in Bogura on Tuesday, raising the death toll from liquor consumption to 16 in the district.

The three - Abdur Razzak, Mehedi Hasan and Abdul Ahad, residents of  Shajahanpur upazila - died this evening, said Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Shajahanpur Police Station.  

The rest 13 deaths were reported from different upazilas of the district at various times since Sunday evening.

The deceased also includes three members of a family -- Suman Rabidas, his father Premnath and uncle Ramnath.

The rest are: Palash Miah, 40, Abdur Rahmi, 38, Sazu, 55, Mozahar Ali, 77, Abdul Jalil, 65, Zulfiqer Rahman, 56, Abul Kalam, Abdur Rahi,, 42, and Lazu Miah, 32.

The victims drank liquor in various places including Sariakandi, Kahalu, Shajahanpur upazilas and Tinmatha, Kalitola, Fulbari and Katnarpara areas under Bogura Sadar upazila.
