Special Branch gets new chief

Additional Inspector General of Police Mir Shahidul Islam has been appointed as the new chief of the Special Branch (SB) of Bangladesh Police.

In this regard, the home ministry issued a gazette notification – signed by Deputy Secretary Dhananjay Kumar Das – on Wednesday.

Earlier, Mir Shahidul Islam was working as an additional IGP at the Police Headquarters. 

Additionally, five other senior police officials have also been promoted.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mohammad Maruf Hasan, also the rector of Police Staff College in Dhaka, has been promoted to the post of additional inspector general (acting).

DIG Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, DIG Mahbubur Rahman, DIG Mahbub Hossain, and DIG Biswas Afzal Hossain, have also been promoted to the post of additional inspector general (acting).
