The markets will remain open from 9am to 5pm daily

The government has permitted to keep shopping malls and markets open on a limited scale from 9 to 13 April.

The shops at the malls will remain open from 9am to 5pm daily, said a gazette notification today.

Legal action will be taken if health protocols are not maintained properly, it said.

Earlier, the shops and markets were ordered to be closed from 5 April due to a weeklong lockdown enforced by the government to fight the second wave of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, shop owners and workers of different shopping malls and markets across the country hold protest, demanding immediate reopening.

Bangladesh government has imposed a 7-day countrywide lockdown, starting from Monday, primarily as Covid-19 situation has taken a very dangerous turn here.
