The news was like a bolt from the blue to Yar Hossain, an elderly father from Narayanganj.

His 28-year-old son, Romin Soud, died with Covid-19 symptoms – fever, coughing and breathing difficulties – at Sardarpara area of Siddhirganj.

When Yar Hossain, 60, heard the death news of the son, he could not stand it and suffered a cardiac arrest which ultimately led him to death too.

The tragic incident happened on Monday morning.

Yar was the owner of a brick kiln, MRB, in Lalati area of Sonargaon upazila.

Relatives complained that Romin died without any treatment at hospital.

Md Bhuiyan, son-in-law of Yar Hossain, said Romin fell seriously ill in the early morning on Monday when he was taken to various hospitals in Dhaka, including local hospitals.

But no hospital admitted him as he had coronavirus symptoms. Finally, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Romin died at around 6am.

"My father-in-law had had a heart attack as he could not bear the grief of his son's death. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital too where he died at 7am."

Romin's samples have been tested for the coronavirus but the report is yet to come.

"He had pneumonia but no hospital admitted him. My brother-in-law died without treatment," he wailed.

Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Kamrul Faruk said they have been informed about the double deaths.
